President Buhari has pleaded with the ASUU to put their strike plans on hold
ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities) members have been asked to shelve their plans to go on strike due to the government’s inability or unwillingness to meet the union’s demands.
President Muhammadu Buhari has joined other stakeholders across the country in urging them to shelve their plans to go on strike.
President Buhari told the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) that the Federal Government will follow through on its promises to eliminate disruptions of academic programs caused by strikes by boosting the funding of educational institutions.
He made the vow while receiving members of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), who were headed by the Co-Chairs, the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Samson Ayokunle, in the Presidential Villa.
He expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) for intervening in the year-long strike by the ASUU by having consultations with the parties involved.
