Adeyemi College of Education (Courses, School Fees, Post UTME Form, and More)
Adeyemi College of Education is a government-owned institution named after one of Yorubaland’s educationists, Canon M. C. Adeyemi. The institution was named after this notable educationist because of his contribution to education development in the state.
Located in Ondo City, Ondo State, the college of education is affiliated to Obafemi Awolowo University for degree programmes. Adeyemi College of Education was founded in 1963 with the aim of producing qualified teachers that would equip knowledge to students in teachers’ training colleges and pupils in secondary schools. It was also founded to produce teachers that would conduct research on teaching methods. In 1964, the institution formally commenced academic operations.
Adeyemi College of Education is presently one of the notable colleges of education in Nigeria. The institution has five schools: Education, Sciences and Vocational, Arts and Social Sciences, Technical Education, and Languages.
In 2015, the administration of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan upgraded Adeyemi College of Education into a university of education. In August 2015, the new status was, however, put into holding. It followed a decision made by the new administration under President Muhammad Buhari.
A bill was passed at the National Assembly in 2018. However, it has not been approved by the president.
Adeyemi College of Education’s mission is to “create a conducive atmosphere where teaching, learning, research and community activities can take place among staff, students and the public for the overall benefit of the teaching profession in Nigeria and abroad through a resourceful, transparent, firm and just leadership.”
