History of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic
Abdu Gusau Polytechnic (AGP) used to be known as Talata Marafa Polytechnic until its name was changed. During his tenure as Governor of Sokoto State, Malam Yahaya Abdulkarim signed the bill to create the state-owned polytechnic in 1992. The school was founded four years after Zamfara State was created from Sokoto State.
Prof. Tukur Adamu, the rector, is in charge of the school administration. The registrar, deans, HOD, librarian, and academic and non-academic personnel are among the other principal officers. It goes without saying that the school places a high value on technology, with a slogan that reads, “technology for self-reliance.”
Every year, students from all over the country are admitted to the polytechnic, but the number of non-indigenes continues to outnumber indigenes by a large margin. It has a clinic that has recently been equipped with a cutting-edge laboratory. Students may take advantage of facilities such as the school hostel, but most students make their own arrangements for accommodation.
Abdu Gusau Polytechnic has four faculties, namely: social sciences, engineering/technology, sciences, and health.
The school is affiliated with Usmanu Danfodiyo University in Sokoto and offers ND and HND programs. Candidates who meet the requirements will enroll in one of the following postgraduate diploma programs: Public Policy and Administration, Accounting and Finance, Journalism, Biology, Statistics, Information Technology, Business Administration.
