A Brief Overview

Kogi State Polytechnic is a state-owned institution of higher learning situated in Lokoja, Kogi State and founded in 1993. It was accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), in 2007, to give certificates in Engineering, Art and Printing, Business, and a host of others, at National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) levels.

The polytechnic was founded by Abubakar Audu, the first and second Executive Governor of Kogi State. This was through an amended edict No. 6 of 1994. In January 1993, Kogi State Polytechnic commenced operation at the Government Science Secondary School, Lokoja and Osara Campus. The first Rector was Dr. Isa I.A.

Kogi State Polytechnic presented sixteen programmes, in December 2009, for accreditation to the NTBE visiting team. The accreditation was targeted primarily at the schools of Management Studies, Applied Science, and Engineering and Environmental Technology.

Kogi State Polytechnic’s mission is “to produce skilled and competent manpower for commerce and industry using standard facilities and efficient personnel for the benefit of humanity.”
