Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu is a government funded and managed institution founded in May 1993. The then Government of Yobe State handed over the phase II of the Yobe State Government Secretariat and site of the former Government College Damaturu to the Federal Ministry of Education. This decision was made to create a space for the polytechnic.
Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu commenced academic operations with six academic departments. Later on, the institution grew to have five academic schools and twelve academic departments, namely:

Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu cut off mark is 120. It means that for candidates to be eligible for the Post UTME examination, they must score 120 and above in 2020 UTME.
Federal Polytechnic Damataru Admission
The Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, offers full time and part time programmes in National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND).
To be considered for admission, candidates are required to meet these criteria:
- Candidates should score a minimum of 150 in UTME
- Candidates must have obtained a minimum of five credit passes in relevant subjects (including English Language and Mathematics) at O’ Level. It should be obtained at not more than two sittings.
- Higher National Diploma (HND) candidates are required to present their National Diploma (ND) certificates or statement of result from an accredited polytechnic.

The Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu is a government-owned higher institution located in Damaturu, Yobe State. The polytechnic was established in May 1993, and it commenced operation with six academic departments. The technological institution, popularly known as FEDPODAM or Damaturu Poly, trains students to be highly-trained technologists.
History of Federal Polytechnic Damaturu
The then Yobe State Government appreciated the need to improve the conditions and quality of education, especially technical education in the state, immediately after Yobe State’s formation. A decision to create Yobe State Polytechnic in Damaturu, the state capital, was taken towards the end of 1992.
The Federal Government informed the State Government of its decision to set up a Federal Polytechnic in Damaturu. At the same time, the requisite facilities and staff were being put in place for the take-off of the state polytechnic.
The Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, was established in May 1993 by virtue of Decree 193 of the Federal Polytechnics (Amendment No. 2).
With the appointment of a pioneering Rector of the Polytechnic, the Yobe State Government handed over to the Federal Ministry of Education the site of the former Damaturu Government College and the adjacent phase II of the Secretariat of the Yobe State Government for the sitting of the Polytechnic.
With six academic departments, the institution has steadily expanded over the years to five academic schools that today consist of twelve (12) academic departments.
Federal Polytechnic Ede
Federal Polytechnic, Ede was founded in February 1992 to provide part-time and full-time courses in several fields of study.
The polytechnic is located in Ede, Osun State.
Yobe State University
Yobe State University is a state-owned higher institution located in Damaturu, Yobe. In 2006, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Bukar Abba Ibrahim, founded the university.
