UNICAL sacks human resources director over age falsification
The management of the University of Calabar has announced the suspension of Mrs. Agatha Ikposhi, Director, Directorate of Human Resource and Establishment (HR&E) of the University, effective Tuesday, March 15, 2022, following allegations that she had lied about her age on her application for promotion.
The notice of suspension was sent in a letter signed by the institution’s Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe, who stated that the action was being made due to charges of age falsification on his part. Mrs. Ikposhi was also accused of refusing to explain irregularities in her job records at the University, as well as of defrauding the Federal Government, according to the letter she received.
Her suspension will take effect on Wednesday, March 16th, 2022, and the case has been forwarded to the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) for further inquiry and investigation.
It was also recommended that Mrs. Ikposhi avoid the University premises during the period of her suspension, with questions raised about her motivation for continuing her service and receiving the remuneration due for her post in the University from 8 October 2014, when she was supposed to retire from service until 2022.
