JAMB introduces additional USSD CODE, introduces WhatsApp as support and complaint platform

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released an additional USSD code and introduced WhatsApp as a help and complaint channel.

A new and optional USSD number, 66019, has been introduced by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to complement the existing 55019 code, which has been in use since 2018 for UTME/DE registration and other critical services provided by the Board.

Aim: To ensure that applicants have no trouble in creating their profiles for the 2022 UTME/DE registration exercise, particularly in a situation where a large number of them will be transmitting their requests using a single USSD code, as has been the case in previous years.

A summary of their functions is that they will be utilized to construct their profiles for registration by applicants participating in the UTME/DE in 2022 and 23. Candidate’s National Identification Number (NIN) must be sent to any of these USSD codes in order for their information to be pulled from the NIMC database before they can proceed to any approved center for biometric capture, as is customary.

In addition, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has implemented the usage of WhatsApp as an additional assistance and complaint channel. Candidates and other stakeholders would be able to communicate with one another in real time and receive answers to any questions they may have about the Board’s operational processes as a result of this additional platform.

To this purpose, ASD Technologies, the company that created the WhatsApp solution, announced that the platform would provide assistance with things like the “step-by-step” registration procedure, as well as a feedback mechanism to ensure that services are delivered effectively.

The platform is not intended to replace, but rather to supplement, the existing ticketing system, thereby increasing access to key services, among other benefits.
