UNIZIK elects a new president of the SUG.
Students Union Government of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has elected Comrade Charles Obinna Ijeomah, a student in the Department of Accountancy in the Faculty of Management Sciences, as its new President, effective immediately.
According to the Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Chinonso Achebe, the results of the virtual election held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 revealed that Comrade Ijeomah received a total of 1717 votes, defeating four other candidates in the race for the position.
In addition, Comrade Ifunanya Jessica Okoye received a total of 2225 votes to be elected as the union’s Vice President of Operations.
Others who have been elected to represent the Union are:
- Joel Abraham Ogbonnaya (2925 votes) – Secretary General.
- Chiemerie Ezeoke (2819 votes) – Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations.
- Victor Harrison (1989 votes) – Financial Secretary
- Victor Obinna Onuorah (2110 votes) – Director of Socials
- Judith Atsedosan Orighomisan (1969 votes) – Treasurer.
- Brightson Chigozirim Ihedioha (2872 votes) is the Director of Sports.
- Ikechukwu Dikeojo (2797 votes) is a Public Relations Officer elect.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charles Okechukwu Esimone, FAS, the UNECO Secretary, Dr. Dereck Orji, UNECO Faculty representatives, students representatives, and members of the UNIZIK FM and the Information & Public Relations unit were all in attendance at the election situation room, which was housed in the Students Affairs unit.
Following his brief remarks, the Vice-Chancellor praised the Dean, members of his election committee, as well as all of the students, for their efforts in making the 3rd virtual SUG election seamless and transparent. Provost Esimone told the incoming SUG EXCO that the University Administration will be behind them.
